The Cologne Cathedral Paper (“Domblatt”)

1842, the same year in which ZDV was founded, the issuance of a society publication was passed in a resolution by the managing committee.
Its purpose was to document the work of the ZDV, the utilisation of contributions and membership-fees and to allegorise and illustrate the labour on Cologne Cathedral and its historical aspects.

The first edition of the “Domblatt” bears the date of July 3rd, 1842. Publisher Joseph DuMont, am member himself, printed the society’s paper free of charge and enclosed it as a free supplement in his Cologne paper “Kölnische Zeitung” always Sundays. The extent of ZDV’ paper increased at first continuously. Starting in 1845 the paper was published monthly, since the eighteen-seventies however it was published again less frequently until a last issue for the time being in 1892 (see also “history of Cologne Cathedral paper”). After a longer Domblatt-Silent period (1893 until 1947) the organ has been issued from 1948 on once a year, 300 pages strong, and sent to society’s members for free. It is also available at Verlag Kölner Dom.
