What we do

For generations employees of Zentral-Dombau-Verein ("Central-Cathedral-Building-Society") ensure that money is collected for Cologne Cathedral and applied within the meaning of the association's goal.  ...so that Cologne Cathedral stays with us! 

With the money from the contributions of its members ZDV covers about 60 per cent of the yearly costs of preservation Cologne's landmark. The money is placed at the disposal of Colgone's Cathedral Building Administration, which applies it to respective projects of the cathedral workshop. Mostly those are long-term projects, planned over decades. However, also regarding short-term building and preserving measures as a result of unpredictable occurrences, it is often the ZDV supporting cathedral's builder's hut with the financial dedication of its members. Also in the future Cologne Cathedral's preservation will require an amount of several million annually.

Therefore the ZDV is seeking by decisive organisational and time-wise efforts to bind the - by now - 13.000 members of the society together,  to enthuse new members for the ZDV-family, as well as to increase the interest in the association and its goal on the whole. With targeted steps in public relations we point towards the ZDV and its work. They include brochures, publications and co-operations with companies as well as press releases and an appealing internet presence. In addition a tramcar styled in the design of the society belongs to the fleet of Cologne transport services by now. Finally prominent personages promote the ZDV's work and membership in particular video messages.
