President

The position of ZDV’s “patriarch” is taken by Michael H. G. Hoffmann since October 20th, 2004. He is the 13th president of the ZDV.
1959 he came to Cologne, saw Cologne Cathedral, experienced Cologne Carnival – and stayed.

Like his predecessor he started his professional career with an apprenticeship at the Commerzbank AG Köln. 1974 till 1993 Hoffmann represented his employee abroad: two years in Antwerpen, six years in Unna and eleven years in Amsterdam, at the end as member of the board of Commerzbank (Nederland) N.V. in Amsterdam.

1993 Commerzbank AG Köln appointed him to the executive board.
2007 Hoffmann went on pension. Today’s ZDV-president is involved in many additional honorary offices, from culture to college to sports to carnival.

Hoffmann’s interests are classical music, travelling and golf. But Cologne Cathedral means an even greater deal to him: his office as president of the society, which is making substantial contributions to the preservation of Cologne Cathedral, is vocation for him.

As former banker he possesses great knowledge of capital and finances. And as ZDV-“patriarch” he knows a great deal about solidarity. Both strengthens the gigantic ZDV-family and its motivation for the goal: “...so that Cologne Cathedral stays with us.”
