ZDV-Statute
"Under the name `Dombau-Verein´ (`Cologne Cathedral building Society´) in Cologne a society is found, which has the purpose by means of offerings of money donations and in other ways appropriate to contribute to the dignified preservation and the continuous construction of the Catholic Cathedral Church in Cologne according to the original plans actively."
This is how paragraph 1 of the ZDV-statute reads, which His Majesty Friedrich Wilhelm IV., King of Prussia approved by “highest cabinets' order” of December 8th, 1841. Cologne Cathedral building society is one of the last remaining “old juridical” societies, so it is older than the Civil Law Code of January 1st, 1900. That is why the ZDV cannot be found in the register of associations and thus has no “e.V.” in its name. In the statute it is clearly established, that the ZDV is “selfless”. This can be taken literally: the society only exists, so that Cologne Cathedral continues to exist. Vice versa it also means: Cologne Cathedral needs the extended family of ZDV to endure standing.
